I designed a pioneering user flow for Google Wallet that enabled users to connect their cards and bank accounts—years before mobile banking became ubiquitous. This work was part of Project Babylon, an initiative to reimagine personal financial management on mobile devices.

The challenge was creating a secure, intuitive system for external account linking that would build user trust while delivering value through personalized financial insights. I designed flows that balanced security requirements with user experience, laying groundwork for features that are now standard in mobile banking applications

I designed rich transaction receipts for Google Wallet that transformed routine payment records into contextually meaningful experiences. Each transaction detail screen combined essential payment information with visual context relevant to the purchase type.

The interface hierarchy was carefully considered: merchant branding and transaction amount commanded immediate attention in the blue header, providing quick purchase recognition. Below, I designed an adaptive content window that intelligently displayed different types of contextual information—Google Maps for physical purchases, media artwork for entertainment content. This required close collaboration with engineers to create a flexible system that could seamlessly pull in location data, merchant logos, and digital content artwork from various Google services.

The technical implementation required careful consideration of data availability and loading states, ensuring the interface could gracefully handle scenarios where maps might be slow to load or artwork wasn't available. I worked closely with backend teams to determine which data points could be reliably surfaced, and designed appropriate fallback states to maintain a polished experience.

A critical security enhancement for Google Wallet required moving PIN authentication from device-level to cloud storage. As this would often be users' first interaction with the app after download, I saw an opportunity to transform a standard security measure into a moment of brand delight.

I designed a minimalist PIN entry screen that balanced security with approachability: a centered Google logo above four circles and a subtle numpad below. As users entered their four-digit PIN, each circle sequentially filled with Google's signature colors (red, blue, yellow, green)—turning a mandatory security step into a memorable brand touchpoint that reinforced trust and polish.
